The 12th Annual Lynford Lecture was held at Polytechnic Institute of NYU on Thursday,
November 19, 2009. Frances Allen, the first female recipient of the A. M. Turing Award –
the equivalent of the Nobel Prize for computing – as well as the first woman to be named
an IBM Fellow and the first female guest speaker in the 12-year history of the lecture series,
spoke about the early days of computer science and about the field’s future in a lecture
titled “The Challenge of the Multicores.”
The 11th Annual Lynford Lecture was held at Polytechnic Institute of NYU on Tuesday,
December 2, 2008. Jeremy Grantham, Chairman and Founder of GMO, spoke on the topic,
“Career Risk & Bubbles Breaking: That’s All That Matters.”
Mr. Lynford was interviewed for an article for The New York Sun entitled “A Major Real Estate
Investor Liquidates” (November 18-20, 2005).
